Stopping Meth Use
Just because the data is scary does not mean powerful strategies cannot be used in our community to take a difference. Working together, in a Meth Free Allience, we can stop this problem with powerful, proven strategies. Meth stops with us, by our actions, large and small, individual and groups.
Here are examples:
- Simple proven practices could dramatically help reduce the negative symptoms of all young children and school age children exposed to meth-if we use them. Meth stops with us.
- Simple proven practices reported by the US Surgeon General used with elementary school students can cut stimulant drug (e.g.,meth) addiction years later-if we use them-meth stops with us.
- Simple proven practices can help get teens, who are experimenting to stop or cut back-if we use these practices. Meth stops with us.
- Simple proven practices exist to get people into treatment sooner for methamphetamine addiction-if we use these practices. Meth stops with us.
- Simple proven practices, proven by the National Institutes of Health, can dramatically improve treatment and recovery-if we use them. Meth stops with us.
- Simple proven practices can help employers and neighborhoods reduce the negative impact of this terrible problem-if we use them. Meth stops with us.
Signs of Meth Labs
- Lots of traffic, people stopping at house for only a few minutes, day and night.
- Small items stolen from many neighborhood yards.
- Residents secretive and don't try to get to know neighbors.
- Unusual, strong odors, similar to cat urine, ammonia and fingernail polish remover
- Residence's windows blacked out
- Renters who pay their landlords in cash
- Excessive trash on property, including large amounts of such items as antifreeze containers, lantern fuel cans, red chemically stained coffee filters, drain cleaner and duct tape.
- Unusual amounts of clear glass containers brought into the home
- Unusual smoking habits such as constantly smoking outside avoiding flammable chemicals.
